Keynote Speaker

From Bills to Wills: The Life of a Renaissance Gown
Mistress Drea di’Pellegrini

When researching historic Renaissance dress, there are a number of different types of documents available for research: Wills, tailor's bills, inventories, court records, and more. Some of these sources have been reprinted in modern publications and are widely used, while others lie tucked away in archives and libraries, yet to be transcribed. I will be discussing each type of source as it fits into the "lifecycle" of a Renaissance garment, how it can be used for costume research, and different types of sources reveal about dress in the Renaissance.
